The Protection of Employment Act

The Protection of Employment Act regulates “collective redundancies” which typically arise when an employer makes 10% or more of its workforce redundant. The Act requires that employers provide specified relevant information to employees and consult with their representatives on a range of issues before giving effect to any redundancies. The Act also requires employers to give prior notice of the redundancies to the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
